Discrimination
Discrimination happens when a person is treated less favourably than others because of their certain personal characteristics rather than their ability to do the job. There are several discriminations a person can experience on their workplace. They are usually on the basis of race, color, sex, gender identity or Physical, intellectual, mental or psychiatric disability. Some examples of discrimination occurring in the workplace can include: job refusal, being dismissed or having shifts cut down, denial of training opportunities, transfers and promotions, not being paid the same as someone doing the same job with the same experience and qualifications, exclusion or isolation by co-workers, being given impossible tasks.

Every body might have experienced some sort of discriminations at some point of their professional career. Speaking about me, I worked as an intern in one of the reputed company and within those internship period, I expected a job opportunity with them seeing two positions available where I could fit after certain trainings. But I was not offered the position and someone with high experience in different section was hired and then given training. I thought ok may be she is more experienced but still carried on my work even though no one cared much about me and another position was still vacant. The newly hired employee of their race told me "oh, you have an accent problem, you don't sound like us." I defended her thoughts by saying,"Yes, of course because I wasn't born here. I can still speak this language clearly and speak my mother tongue as well. Ca you speak different languages clearly other than your own?" This thing shouldn't be the reason to choose me into the profession. After I finished my internship I saw them hiring someone in the position of junior draft person who had low qualification than mine but was of their race. I felt very bad at that time. If I face this situation again, I will clearly warn them about the workplace discriminations and actions taken against it by law.
We all should be treated equally at our workplace, no matter where we belong to.
